“When is a tiny home not a tiny home? It sounds like a joke but turns out to be a genuine question arising from a regulatory maelstrom. A tiny house, particularly a tiny house on wheels (Thow), can sometimes be considered a vehicle. But even then, it might also be considered a building.

MBIE (Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment) has released a new guidance, hoping to clarify once and for all when a tiny house is a vehicle and when it is a building, and what rules therefore apply…”
