With no road access, these triathletes’ new home had to arrive by boat

Fran Huelsmeyer of Ruru Homes with the sixth home the company has built. The home was being transported by Abel Tasman Sea Shuttles from Marahau to Awaroa in Abel Tasman National Park.

“When former world-class triathletes Erin Baker and Scott Molina decided to make a second home in an isolated spot in the middle of Abel Tasman National Park, they needed a solution to the fact their new site was boat-access only. So they bought a 45 square metre tiny home and transported it in by barge.

Baker and Scott bought the 4 hectare section at Awaroa last year, and last weekendhad their Ruru tiny home transported up the coast by sea shuttle. At Awaroa, which is home to about 30 baches on private land, it was shifted to its site by tractor and poles…”
